Admission

Graduate School Admission Requirements

Application materials should be submitted through either the admissions website or the applicant's application portal by the advertised deadline.  Completed applications and all supporting materials will be evaluated by the graduate admissions committee of the program to which the student is applying.  The graduate program director will then notify the student of his/her admission status.

General admission to graduate programs at Missouri Western is based upon the following minimum criteria:

  1. Complete an application for admission and pay the $50 application fee.
  2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Official transcript(s) must be submitted from all colleges and/or universities from which the applicant has earned credit.
  3. A minimum 2.75 undergraduate grade point average (GPA) or previously earned master’s degree.
  4. Individual programs may have additional requirements for admission such as: resume, letters of recommendation, prerequisite courses, and/or professional licensure. Requirements specific to each program are provided in the university’s graduate catalog.

Applicants who fail to meet one or more of the Graduate School requirements or degree program requirements (e.g., low GPA, missing prerequisite coursework ) may still be admitted conditionally. Students admitted conditionally will receive notification of the specific conditions in their acceptance letters. Failure to fulfill the conditions will result in probation or program dismissal. Dismissed students may reapply after a one year lay-out, subject to program review.

Misrepresenting or Falsifying Information

Any student who misrepresents, falsifies or withholds required information will be referred to the Admissions and Graduation Committee for review and appropriate action. Such action may result in denial of admission to Missouri Western State University or immediate dismissal from Missouri Western upon discovery. The university reserves the right to investigate and review the records of any prospective student to determine the applicant's eligibility to enroll.
